Yale of Beaufort
A Yale is a mythical animal, said to be the size of an elephant, with a goat-like body, and the tusks and horns of a boar.
The Queen’s Beasts
The Queen’s Beasts are a series of ten statues that were created for Elizabeth II’s coronation at Westmnister Abbey in 1953. They combine heraldic elements and mythical creatures which form a part of the Queen’s royal ancestry. The Royal Mint launched their Queen’s Beasts bullion range in 2016. The falcon coins are the sixth in the series. The first coin featured a lion. Both the obverse and reverse of the coins were designed by Royal Mint engraver, Jody Clark. The coins have a face value of £100.
Jody Clark’s coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of the coin.
The reverse is also designed by Jody Clark and shows the Yale of Beaufort. The Yale is shown on top of a shield.
